Coming from a wider family in London where the straight choice was supporting the mighty Arsenal or the somewhat less impressive ‘Ammers, what’s a boy to choose? Simples, dad supported Arsenal, so do I, so does my brother and sister.

My first game was standing on the North Bank. In truth I didn’t see much of the start of the game ‘cos I was only little, but in those days you were allowed to make your way to the front. So the view got better as the game went on!

My last game at Highbury was also viewed from the North Bank, but this time seated in the upper tier. That’s progress I guess!

Do I have any great qualifications as an Arsenal pundit? Not really, but had I kept the scrapbook I made of our Fairs Cup victory year, I would probably have a keener recollection of those times. As it happens the book was donated to a young’en who was just starting out on his Gooner journey, so now he knows some of our history.

I find myself completely unable to understand why anyone would want to support a team other than Arsenal, honestly. Regardless of trophies won or anything, why would anyone want to support anyone else?

I guess that’s the mark of a fan, and if nothing else it means I’ll have an opinion that hasn’t been copied and pasted from someplace else. You may or may not like my opinions, but stick around and I can guarantee you’ll get them!
